Crunchy Cabbage Salad with Orange-Tahini Dressing #vegetarian #veggies

What about cabbage serving of mixed greens? The word coleslaw begins from the Dutch word koolsla which means cabbage (kool) serving of mixed greens (sla). Same thing, at that point! 🙂

Yet, for what reason am I raving about a cabbage slaw, you might be pondering… Well, for reasons unknown I have been longing for new cabbage. A sweet, crunch serving of mixed greens with a trace of cabbage-y poignancy. So I made this and ate it for the duration of the day… lunch, tidbit and supper… .

The decent thing about this plate of mixed greens is the dressing, which I adjusted from My New Roots. Not mayo-loaded like run of the mill coleslaws. Or maybe, tahini is utilized as a smooth base and the sesame is featured by toasted sesame oil and newly toasted sesame seeds. The new bend originates from the orange pizzazz and new lemon juice. Cilantro livens up the serving of mixed greens with further mash from sunflower seeds. The following day, I was miserable I had zero remaining and needed it by and by… thus the cycle rehashes itself!

Crunchy Cabbage Salad with Orange-Tahini Dressing #vegetarian #veggies

INGREDIENTS :

  • 10 oz green cabbage, thinly sliced (~3 cups)
  • 1 large carrot, grated (1 cup)
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/8 cup sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1/8 cup sunflower seeds, toasted
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1.5 tbsp lemon juice (half a lemon)
  • 1 tsp agave (or maple syrup)
  • 1.5 tbsp tahini
  • 1/4 cup water
  • zest of a clementine or small orange
  • pinch of salt, or to taste

INSTRUCTIONS :

  1. Place cabbage, carrot, green onion and cilantro in a bowl and toss.
  2. In a small cup, mix together the sesame oil, lemon juice, agave, tahini, water, zest and salt.
  3. Plate salad, top with sesame and sunflower seeds and drizzle with dressing.
  4. Serves 2-4.
